Artist Evelyn Rydz created the Comida Casera Project in 2016, which engages the community by connecting women of diverse backgrounds through shared food and stories of home. I was commissioned to design and fabricate two tables for Rydz’s exhibit that were based on her concept of plants growing through cracked concrete sidewalks. Rydz conceived of a living table inspired by the resilience of plants thriving together within inhospitable built environments. The design reflects the industrial space and manufactured materials of the ICA Watershed and Boston Harbor’s historic shipyard.
